Job Description

As Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for the operation of FreeBalance’s Human Resources department locally and internationally. Key to this position is the ability to supervise and provide consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development, budget, and labor relations.
The Director, Human Resources reports to the Vice President, People amp; Culture in Ottawa, Canada.Main Responsibilities
  • Discuss FreeBalance’s recruitment needs with the Hiring Managers and execute the company’s recruitment and onboarding plans.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of FreeBalance’s HR policies.
  • Develop, maintain and review HR-related procedures for ISO certifications.
  • Draft international employment contracts, negotiate and extend offers.
  • Manage the employee benefits contracts with the providers, and assist employees with plan registration and inquiries.
  • Work closely with the company’s legal advisors, manage employee labor relation matters, and all HR-related tasks when registering into a new country.
  • Administer the accounts and manage the contracts of the HRMIS, ATS, and LinkedIn Recruiter, and liaise with suppliers.
  • Oversee, maintain and update employee compensation and benefits programs in Canada and internationally.
  • Ensure up to date knowledge on relevant Canadian and international laws and policies and advise where necessary.
  • Organizational design provide advice and guidance as the business continues to expand its global footprint.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency, quality and timeliness of internal policies and communications.
  • Oversee accessibility (e.g. AODA) and health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local laws.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Human Resources or related fields, HR certification is a must.
  • Experience reviewing and developing HR policies.
  • 7 years of experience successfully managing an internationally dispersed HR team.
  • Proven experience in global recruitment, global benefits, employee training programs, employee performance management, labor relations, and international labor laws.
  • Ability to clearly articulate at meetings with all levels of management and stakeholders.
  • Experience with goal-setting frameworks like Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Experienced in working HRMIS, ATS, online job boards, social media.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • French, Spanish, and Portuguese language skills are considered an asset.
  • Able to travel internationally.
