Job Description

WhereIsMyTransport is growing its global Data Product team, and is looking for a Data Programme Manager to join our remote-first global business. This role is crucial to the success of our data collection projects and data maintenance programmes in Asia. In this role, you will own the planning and execution of complex data collection projects - mapping formal and informal public transport networks in the largest cities in Asia. When COVID-19 allows, you will be a nomadic project manager (when COVID allows) who will set up and work with local teams for the initial mapping of cities. Once a city has been mapped, you will continue to work with a local team from a distance to ensure the dataset is maintained to reflect any changes that occur.

You would play a pivotal role in ensuring the data produced within your assigned cities meets quality standards and accurately reflects the reality on the ground, in line with commuters’ understanding of public transport. You are passionate about improving access to public transport information, with the aim of producing the most complete and accurate representation of cities’ public transport networks.

You will work closely with our marketing and community management teams to make sure that, as you develop relationships and build a community in regional markets, we - as a business - can continue to engage with these markets, and these communities, over time.

Overview of activities amp; responsibilities
  • Support our Research Team with pre-project research, and searching for suitable local partners - including leading introductory calls and research interviews.
  • Collaborate with our Research team for the running of research workshops and activities during collection projects.
  • Share insights of the local context (during time in the field) with the wider Data Product team.
  • Support in the recruitment, assessment, and management of collection resources (including temporary hires, such as local partners and data collection teams).
  • Train local teams in the use of WhereIsMyTransport proprietary technologies.
  • Collaborate with Data Project Managers to develop detailed plans for collection projects, and lead the collection projects in collaboration with our local partners.
  • Monitor project performance, cash flow, and expenses, and report back to the wider Data Product team, while responding dynamically to challenges and changes to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Ensure we are collecting all the relevant in-field data required for our data collection solutions, and help to identify collection resource requirements and gaps.
  • Facilitate communications between our in-field teams and our headquarter staff, represented by our Data Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with our Head of Data Solutions and Data Leads to design data maintenance strategies, and create a localised maintenance plan.
  • Set up key performance metrics for your team in regards to data collection and maintenance targets.
  • Offer guidance and support to your team of Data Leads, and support recruitment efforts for Data Leads, as needed.
  • Build strategic relationships in the LatAm region, supporting our stakeholder engagement within all cities.

Every day brings a dozen new challenges. You will spend most days finding creative ways to solve unexpected problems, negotiating with local stakeholders to maintain project velocity and traction, and managing your local team to sustain high levels of quality, performance, and productivity.
